There are many differences between the book and the movie of Friday Night Lights, most of
which were done so Hollywood could “Sell the Movie”.
the issue of education was taken out of the movie.
we understand why they did it, because if it was in the film it would make it much more complicated. So the Carter students being given the answer sheets, or the teacher trying to fail one of the football players is gone.
Matters of racialism in movie.
In my view, the race issues were downplayed. To some critics of the movie but, the Carter football teams were labeled as racial stereotypes. The truth is probably somewhere in between. In the DVD director's commentary, it is brought that there is so many times you can use the word "nigger" in a movie before it gets to be too much. The point of race is made in the film.
But not to the extent that is in the book. The fact that others criticized the stereotype however makes us think that they did the right thing. The tone of the movie is different than the book in this regard.Brian Chavez is a tight end in the book.
But is on defense in the movie. This is one of the little things that don’t affect the story much.
It also did a great job showing how crazy the fans get and pressure the coach and players got. The "for sale" signs on the lawn of the coach after a loss was in the book, and the scenes when the football boosters approach the coach about winning state were cool. The casting was great. Boobie seems to steals the screen at times, whether he is being cocky about his ability or crying while knowing he can't play football again.
We all liked the movie and book, it’s a strong story and really pulls you in. because on the cover it says A Town, A Team, And A Dream…

Summary
The coin toss was a nerve racking moment but gaines had enough luck to make it into the playoffs. Permian beat Amarillo Tascosa in the first round 31-7. Gaines was unhappy with his teams performance in the next game saying they will not win a championship like that even though they won heftily. Permian lost to dallas carter by inches in the final play. The season ends with them getting 2nd in state. They upset but at the same time proud of their accomplishments.

After the Panthers lost a game hey were favored to win by threee touchdowns, Coach gary gaines was hated by fans saying as long as he is coack no matter how high the talent levelo we will never win a state championship. Do you feel that happens in our area? coaches hated because maybe the players were not playing their best?

Thinking Question #3
Grades at the Permian High School are very low. The kids don't even care about school. What could a school do to get their kids more interested and get their grades up?
